Daniel Williams, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
Dan has over a decade of experience in the behavioral health field. His background is addictions work, and completed his Masters in Addictions Counseling through Hazelden Graduate School of Addiction Studies. He specialized in group work and in treating the family system, particularly within the framework of addictions. He treats co-occurring disorders which is when someone is dealing with both a mental health and substance and use disorder concurrently.
Over the past five years his focus has been on trauma work, which led him to get trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, which is more commonly becoming known as the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model. The goal with the model is to access trauma memories that have been stuck in the brain's neural network, and integrate them with present day reality, thereby allowing for new networks and associations to be made, and for adaptive behaviors (versus reactive) to be learned. Dan also uses Internal Family Systems (IFS), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for treating trauma.
The other modalities he specializes in, particularly for treating mood disorders, are Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). Dan also performs Christian counseling and talk therapy and am present focused in the work that I do. His growing edge is currently Attachment and Couples work.
"I am passionate about the work that I do. My goal is to help each client I work and unlock the best version of themselves through connecting (or reconnecting) with their true selves, getting unstuck (or unhooked) from maladaptive patterns of thinking and behavior, and moving towards healthier and more adaptive ways of thinking and living." -D. Williams

Our highly trained professionals are here for you and understand if you can't make it to an in person office visit every time. Family Wellness Center of Norman offers telemedicine to our patients that need to talk to their providers in a HIPPA compliant environment in this fast paced technological world.
Instead of coming into the office, a video visit will allow you to see and talk to your provider by video from home, work, or wherever you will have your smartphone/computer. This will allow the patient to go over any concerns and discuss any potential medication changes just as you would at an in-person office visit.
If you are interested or have signed up for our video visits we have included helpful instructions for download in our forms section!
We accept a variety of insurance providers; such as: Blue Cross Blue Shields, Aetna, Cigna, United Health Care, HealthChoice, Meritain Health, Healthcare Highways / Webtpa, Medicare and Medicaid.
